The role:

The primary role of the Senior Advisor is to to manage a portfolio of CEI projects across a range of key CEI strategic activities, with a particular focus on research synthesis and the application of implementation science in research and practice. The Senior Advisor will also contribute to the development of CEI to grow the Centre’s business and organisational capacity.

Key responsibilities:

Project management

  • Manage the design, planning and delivery of projects, or components of a variety of projects, but primarily research synthesis, and implementation science projects. This includes:
    • Develop and ensure the most rigorous methods possible (given scope and resource of the project) are applied to synthesis and implementation projects
    • Develop and ensure a deep understanding of objectives, critical issues and manage a team work plan
    • Managing and supporting research assistants in the development of search strategies, screening of literature, extraction of data, quality assessment of evidence and draft reporting
    • Providing projects with technical expertise focused on synthesis methods

Client development and Strategic Growth

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a plan that will grow the Centre’s business and organisational capacity, strategic competitiveness and ensure continuous quality improvement
  • Develop new competitive tenders and client proposals including drafting and budget preparation

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Expertise and credibility in at least 2 of the following content areas: public health, child and social welfare, education, health, housing, early years, parenting and families, justice and employment and a willingness to quickly develop expertise in the other areas.
  • Expertise with and excellent understanding in at least 2 of the following areas: research synthesis methods and products, research and practice in the area of implementation science, and evidence informed practice in the human service area and a willingness to quickly develop expertise in the other areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, in particular, ability to write for a variety of audiences including government officials, practitioners and an academic audience and present to a variety of audiences in a number of different settings (e.g., meetings with government officials, practitioners and academic audiences)
  • Experience in winning new projects, responding to competitive tenders, preparing proposals to secure new work packages and negotiating contractural terms of business
  • Excellent client and project management skills, including, budget management, resource management and confict management and resolution
  • Ability to work and thrive in a face paced environment
  • Post graduate degree in health, social science or related discipline
