With more than 20 years experience conducting research and managing complex multi-site evaluations, Gayatri Kembhavi-Tam, PhD, leads a portfolio of CEI projects across evidence synthesis, evaluation and implementation science.

Gayatri has particular expertise working with people from minority communities and those typically marginalised from research, including children and youth with disabilities. Her evaluation expertise includes work in healthcare, early education and the social service sectors.

Gayatris global experience includes examining health financing and health outcomes in Africa for Save the Children UK, and working with the World Health Organization in Tajikistan to build and strengthen the national rehabilitation sector.

Gayatri has built considerable experience at CEI, working on program evaluations, evidence syntheses, curriculum design and teaching in implementation science, as well as collaborating with community partners to build capacity in research and evaluation. She has engaged extensively with government, philanthropists and international non-government organisations (including UNICEF) in the use of evidence to inform program design and interventions.

Within CEI, Gayatri provides leadership in evaluation, evidence synthesis, effective communication of evaluation findings for diverse audiences, and approaches to ensure inclusion, equity and amplification of diverse voices across evaluations.

Gayatri is a Visiting Professor at the National University of Singapore (Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine), and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta (Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine). She holds a PhD from University College London, with a focus on international development and disability, and a Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta in Canada.
