
Ssanyu brings to CEI a strong background in academic research, focused on the health and wellbeing of marginalised communities. She has contributed to research using community-engaged approaches, and is particularly interested in community-based participatory research.
Ssanyu's research experience spans diverse topics, including the role of social support in reproductive decision-making, hair-related barriers to swimming participation among ethnic minority students, and the impact of historical self-knowledge on the economic wellbeing of Black communities.
Ssanyu has a BSc in Psychology (where her dissertation was awarded the BPS Spotlight Award for Race and Race-Related Inequalities) and an MSc in Psychology, Culture, and Evolution, from Brunel University. She is excited to be conducting research dedicated toward the implementation of evidence-based programs to drive meaningful change in marginalised communities.
