In the UK, CEI builds on an already mature demand for evidence.
Our UK office opened in 2019, building on the extensive networks CEI had already developed in the UK and on early project activity undertaken for partners in this region from other CEI offices. We now have a dedicated, multi-disciplinary and growing team, co-located alongside other organisations with similar missions to support the uptake of evidence in policy and practice.
Our work in the UK and across Europe has grown rapidly, and we have built a portfolio of achievement across evidence synthesis, evaluation, and active implementation support.
The UK has an extensive network of What Works Centres, dedicated to synthesising and extending evidence in different policy areas and to supporting its take-up. We work closely with What Works Centres, including Youth Endowment Fund, Foundations, Education Endowment Foundation, Youth Futures Foundation, and Wales Centre for Public Policy.
We also have projects funded by government departments and agencies (including the Department for Education, the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities and UNICEF); research councils and foundations (including the Nuffield Foundation, Wellcome Trust, and Economic and Social Research Council); voluntary sector organisations, and local authorities.
Many of our projects involve partnerships with like-minded organisations, particularly universities, specialist research centres, and sector support bodies. Collaboration and co-production are the cornerstones of our success, and we work very closely with the local teams that develop and deliver programmes and services and with the communities they serve.
