Communication and Content Specialist

Are you a creative and strategic communicator passionate about social impact?
CEI is looking for a Communication and Content Specialist to drive external and internal communications that highlight our work, support the growth of our team, and improve outcomes for people facing adversity worldwide.

This newly created role will help shape and share CEI’s story across the globe. Working under the direction of our Knowledge Translation and Communication Manager, you’ll lead the development of engaging written and visual content tailored for audiences in the government, non-profit, research and philanthropic sectors.

You will be an organised and self-motivated all-rounder in professional communication and storytelling, with at least 2 to 3 years’ experience, as well as Degree qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Professional Writing or similar.

You will have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, proven experience in developing and managing content and channels, along with personal initiative, high attention to detail, and strong relationship-building, problem-solving and time-management skills. You’ll be passionate about the potential for research evidence to improve outcomes for families and communities, and ready to thrive in a collaborative, mission-driven, small team environment.

How this role contributes to CEI purpose

  • Produces engaging content to showcase CEI’s global impact, including articles, policy briefs and written and visual communication materials tailored to external audiences and decision-makers.
  • Develops and manages visual communication assets (such as infographics, videos, animations, imagery) that strengthen CEI’s visual identity and support our marketing, project delivery and business development.
  • Manages and delivers digital communications that grow CEI’s social media presence and reach, including social media strategy, content planning and development, and community management.
  • Maximises opportunities for profile and influence from CEI’s participation and partnership in local and international events, through communication plans and activity.
  • Leads internal communication (in collaboration with People and Culture team), fostering global team alignment and sharing key organisational updates in partnership with executive leadership.
  • Supports CEI to gain new business and recruit exceptional people, by creating and updating relevant collateral and materials (such as staff profiles, job advertisements, project summaries and product descriptions), in collaboration with other teams.
  • Manages and optimises communication platforms and tools, including the CEI website, Mailchimp, visual asset library, and document templates.
  • Manages and coordinates data and reporting to support effective business functioning and growth (coordinating Mailchimp contact data, compiling analytics and activity reports).

We’re looking for someone who…

  • Has 2–3 years’ experience in a dynamic, multi-faceted communication role.
  • Demonstrates exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Is confident with visual storytelling (infographics, video/animation, basic graphic design skills).
  • Brings experience managing social media channels, content and communities.
  • Has strong organisational and prioritisation skills, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Has Degree qualifications in Communications, Journalism, Professional Writing or similar (Postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded).
  • Thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven, small team environment.

Experience in a non-profit, research, or social sector organisation will be highly regarded, as will graphic design experience.
