Marit Torstad

Marit Tørstad has a background in mental health services for children and adolescents, with special interest in school refusal and prevention of social exclusion.

She is dedicated to improving school attendance, through interdisciplinary collaboration and effective coordination of municipal and referral-based services, and by placing the young person and their family at the centre of service delivery.

Marit has wide-ranging experience in schools, educational-psychological services, child welfare services, in mental health care for children and adolescents within specialised health services (BUP), with the Norwegian Directorate of Health and The Children’s House (Oslo Police District), as well as in interdisciplinary service development for children and adolescents.

Marit has undertaken research into ADHD at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health and has led interdisciplinary specialist training for doctors, psychologists, social workers and other professionals, at institutions including Oslo Metropolitan University.

Marit has a special education degree (cand. ed.) with specialisations in clinical pedagogy, family therapy and guidance. She is also a passionate marathon runner and running coach, having run 68 full marathons to date.
